So you’re in the market for a therapist. I’m proud of you, and also, I’m sorry— getting started can be hard.

Hi. I’m Allison and I want to help.

Who I am: a licensed psychologist with almost 20 years of therapy experience. Outside of the walls of my office, I am an author, partner, mom to humans and rescue animals, lover of volleyball, and coffee connoisseur.

What I do: compassionate, non-mysterious therapy with individuals 14 and up.

What To Expect

Challenge & Support- You need both to heal and grow.

Transparency- Got a question? I’ll probably answer it.

Imperfection- I’m just a real person out here, folks.

Humor- When appropriate. Mostly.

Bluntness with warmth- I’m always on your side, but I tend to get right to the point.

Attention to oppressive systems- Patriarchy, racism, capitalism, homophobia, ableism, misogyny, feminism that isn’t intersectional, and others. Systemic critique is a part of my everyday language, and it will come up in therapy.

Who I Work With

I’m a generalist by training, but here is who I tend to work especially well with:

  • Artists, musicians, creatives of all types

  • People with trauma in their families of origin

  • Burned out former “gifted kids”

  • The nerds. If you play D&D or Magic the Gathering, I’m probably your girl

  • The grievers— especially if your grief is complicated

  • Neurodiverse folks

  • Queer folks

  • Polyamorous/non-traditional family structure people

    • I am poly-am and kink affirming!

  • People who want to recover from perfectionism

  • Not on this list? It’s still okay to email me to ask if we’re a good fit.

Your Questions, Answered

How do I schedule my first session?

Email me at contact@drallisonbitz.com, or use the contact form below.

Yes: Blue Cross Blue Shield, United, Optum, Midlands Choice, Aetna, Medicaid (United Community, Nebraska Total Care), Medicare, and probably some others, it’s honestly very hard to keep track (but I have people to help me with this). Contact your insurance company to check on my in-network status.

I’m NOT in-network with Coventry or Cigna.

If I am not in-network for you, I can provide you with a superbill for your insurance company so you can file a claim for out-of-network benefits.

Private pay can be arranged if you prefer to not use insurance.

What should I say when I email you?

1) What you want to work on in therapy

2) What insurance you want to use to help pay for therapy

3) What days/times you tend to be available for therapy

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. I can work with you via telehealth (online, synchronous video sessions) if you live in Nebraska or in any of the PsyPact participating states.
